Over here in Europe they're called "The Big Yellow from Paris". I randomly put about 20 seeds in the soil of a chicken coop which was emptied by a fox in february. Didn't think they would come up in the layer of chicken manure which normally is far too sharp to grow anything in it. But three came up and survived. It was a real explosion of leaves and flowers. Currently there are three pumpkins still getting bigger. .At least one good thing came out of the fox' visit...... What do you call this sort of pumpkin in the US/Canada? Grows rather big and always stays yellow. Sunday, July 27 View Page 11 DAP Growing steady... Tuesday, July 29 View Page DAP 13 Pumpking advised me to bend the vine even more to get the pumpkin pointing even more away from the vine, so I did. It worked well I think but now there is some stem split appearing. Let's hope for the best! And a big thanks to Pumpking for giving me this unsollicited advice! They didn't grow anymore and had woody stems already. They weighed 11.6/14.1/21.4 kilograms, that's : 25.6/31.1/47.2 lbs. I think that last one is quite heavy for a normal pumpkin, no?
