I have grown lots of potatoes. slugs underground and beetles above ground are your primary enemies. Granular slug killer and DE are my preferred deterrents. I'd still eat those tho, just cut out the slug pits if it gives you the heebbie jeebies ;-)

Yeah i have no problem eating them, but I do a CSA and I will have to dig some from another field for them. I was mad at my cats at first... but then i realized its not there fault.

I did not know such a thing existed, I can understand now why the blemishes matter for some :-) that's a very cool idea nonetheless

I'd still buy a box. But maybe at a discount because I am cheap. All I see is nice mashed taters!

PS when I worked a farmers market (not directly relevant to a CSA) I realized one of the most important marketing strategies is to offer a choice. Not too many choices. But any choice is better than no choice, because people love to choose. You'd sell more good potatoes simply by offering a choice between good and defective potatoes. It may actually enhance the appeal of the non-defective potatoes but then you get the occasional oddball customer like myself who actially wants the defective ones.

But if there are too many choices, then people walk away so you cant offer anything beyond what people can impulsively react to. It's the most morally benign marketing manipulation, so I embrace it.
