Make the roots do more work but also shade the plants. Excess water plus excess sun is a great way to mess up the plants. If you want to believe my crazy opinion. It goes against our mindset as growers to realize that less is more.

There's an occasional time when more is more, but I think that occasion has to do with overall soil biology and soil health. Or if you know the exact mineral needs of the plant, then more can be more. Just an opinion. It might just come down to doing a tissue test. I've got similar issues and it's hard to find all the correct answers, but it's good to seek the answers.

Roots go several feet in all directions, so the soil is needed to be just as good at 7' or so out from the trunk as it is at the base of the plant. And the biggest mistake is to much nitrogen, growers tend to kill them with kindness! Well I hope you have a great season this year!
