Solarizing using .5 mil plastic. Just had to try. It's working... Flimsy but high heat penetration through the plastic.
It's not easy to handle it's almost like plastic food wrap but provided you have something to secure the edges it's a cheap & chemical free way to begin a new garden or give an old garden a new start.
There may be better ways. Ideally I'd burn the grass after its killed and immediately put in transplants, mulch, or a cover crop.
