This will be our first year trying to grow a giant pumpkin. Giant pumpkins have been a curiosity to me since seeing one at a Cumberland country fair in Maine 20 years ago. I remember how that pumpkin seemed supernatural at the time although Im sure it was a modest pumpkin by todays standards. The goal this year is to have fun, learn more about naturally optimizing plant nutrition, and to impress some kids. The stretch goal is to grow a big enough pumpkin to make a proper seagoing vessel and catch some fish. If the snow in New England melts this summer I will dig a 36 x 36 patch for two pumpkins. I joined a few of the auctions on BP.com and bought some seeds; Wallace Seeds from 2014 (6) and some B. Presley seeds from 2014 (2). I appreciate the experienced growers on this forum the making their seeds and methods available.
