Happy New Year to all giant vegetable growers - as they say 'Grow them Big' in 2026 I have been potting on the best Onions into 7 inch pots now they have 6 leaves.

Test germination of this seasons Aubergine, 25c (78F) 5 out of 6 growing after 7 days. Will not be starting until early spring.

Planted first 6 onions out into little tunnel, better than potting on and it gives me more space in the greenhouse. Need lighting/ heating as very dark days at present.

Springlike weather this week so I have planted the rest of my heavy onions out. They have heat/light available as needed because it will come cold again for sure.

Some Onions have young leaves trapped in their necks, I gave them a weak Nitrogen feed a month or so ago and think this may be the cause, hope most grow out ok.

Finished planting out the Aubergines yesterday, all in coir in 90litre pots. If they like it hot then the current 30c temperatures should make them grow. Its not suiting me!
