I had a later start to the pumpkin this year, but its looking good. Weeding has been a nightmare - I take a couple hours a day to get a section done and so far have spent about 12 hours pulling weeds. Almost done. I'm keeping things simple this year because the third picture in this diary entry is the reason I don't have much time right now to dedicate to the patch.
This should be ready to pollinate in about a week (pic was taken a week ago). It's a bit close to the base of the vine, but not undoable. My patch isn't big enough to wait for a perfect placement on the main.
The reason why the patch has been neglected lately. We added a fourth dog to our crew - "Drift" - so an extra dog to train for dog sports. He tries to sneak into the patch and I wouldn't put it past him to chew on a vine or two.
