I posted this question below on the seed exchange board. I think it would be nice to see something like a thread at the top of the page with how many stamps we need for bubble mailers, at least the common size (6 x 9). It should be one price for "cont. usa" according to my PO.
A lot of the new growers probably do not know . It just might save some grief. Just a thought.

I think this is a question that we will see many different answers on.
The season for sending bubbles out will be happening soon.

How many stamps for a 6 x 9 inch bubble mailer, does your Post Office say you will need on it ?

Mine told me that I would need 4 stamps for that size, as long as it is not stuffed with stuff. I know I have read 2 stamps is enough, but after I told my PO that I used 2 stamps before, she said the cost was probably caried over to the receiver. If that was the case last year, I am sorry to whomever that may have happened to, if it even did at all.
I honestly don't know if all the PO workers even know the proper postage for the bubble mailers.

It would be nice to see something written in stone, near the top of the seed exchange board telling everyone how much postage to put on the bubbles (standard 6 x 9 inch). We DON'T want to hurt anyones feelings when they open the envelope and then THEY have to add stamps for someone else.

Put 1.39 or one more stamp than that on the return, and it should cover almost everything on a size 0 bubble mailer.

I do not understand why some people have such a hard time with this every year. You are asking a grower for FREE seeds. I do not send out many requests but when I do I put 4 stamps on the return bubble to make sure there is enough postage to cover anything put inside. Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

I figure a #0 bubble with outer envelope and all postage and a page of stationery with a nice letter; runs me about $4. It cost that grower how many $$$$$$ plus time and effort and heartache and sweat... to grow what they did, make it to the scale, harvest that seed...

And IF I have something to trade, I tucked it in. If not I asked first or certainly tried to before I darken their mailbox with that bubble.

I also understand if it doesn't come back, or comes back with something else other than what I asked or am hoping for.

One more stamp IMO is goodwill; and courtesy. I sent a lot of bubbles last year, received a goodly number; and. I'd rather err on too much postage. I believe $1.68 is oversize-oddsize charge, too fat charge, and 3-4 oz of weight-which is several seeds. I consider that a proper amount of return postage, even if I just get one seed in a coin envelope back. If in doubt, add another stamp.
