What is with all the auctions on weekdays this year? May just be me but don't remember there being that many in past years.

I'll hazard a guess. With 34 auctions pending, if each is held on weekends (Sat/Sun), the cycle wouldn't finish until August 2026. Not sure my math is correct though.

It's different for sure. It might work well for some people/clubs. Maybe its a test run.

I have the Sunday night auction this weekend, and that will be a struggle having to get up at 3am and go to work on Monday. looks like auction season will be done a month earlier than normal this year. Would like to see clubs with multiple dates push their second auction to the rear of the line. we all see the prices gradually drop every weekend. but more power to the retired people that can pull it off.

Agree Pete. Not sure how it works and how clubs get two nights before some get even one night. If drawn all clubs should be entered in drawing for one night then when those are chosen then the clubs that want a second night should be thrown back into the pool to be drawn again. If this isn't the case already. Like I said I don't know how it works.

Really hurts the smaller clubs and decline of prices. Doesn't help people and clubs selling seeds before auctions. Just my 2 cents.

Lots of good points here and for clubs/auctions to consider going forward. It's a struggle for me and perhaps a few others in our time zone to stay up and make it half way through an auction! Not sure how the Europeans stay up, troopers for sure. Auctions with about 50-60 lots is an appropriate size. And yes of course with so many social outlets today seed sales way more prevalent around the globe. The old usual "supply and demand" always comes in to play. HOWEVER auctions still one of the best for selection, especially scarce seeds, and reasonable prices! Sometimes even at bargain basement prices. Hopefully prices remain steady and one thing favoring auctions now and onwards, many growers do not start thinking about seeds until now. Best of luck!

Just imagine if all weigh offs had an auction!

Clubs choose their nights on auction draw night. So it ends up with some clubs going early but every club that showed up on draw night had a chance at earlier dates on the calendar. No club got a second night until every present got one.

Clubs seemed to rather have a week night instead of a weekend later in the winter. In past years all auctions took place on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Thanks Ken. There trying to get the most value instead of being one of the last where prices really fall off.
