seen on FB earlier today we lost a great one. Was always fun catching up with him at the GPC shows. Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers https://www.covenantfuneralservice.com/tributes/Henry-Houston?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0C-Kek4pxrROv2DBmTB8wD0hdzuiQBTb-JNISKnYoqoQVZMc3a8O3MH1U_aem_AfzJW2YUYJt6dKc7yMbAODo-8zspqK4cDX3F0lm4eLCf3UAGNtzce7i0mVFSKm9bpNP2jX-758vI-oPdkItirrE-

So saddened by this news. Hank was always available anytime I had questions about growing watermelons. He will be surely missed. RIP my friend.

That is terrible news to hear , way to young to go , it looked like he was planning on having a great year from his diary, the truth is each day is a blessing..no guarantees of tomorrow

Hank was one of the best friends that I have met on this site, he would always send me an encouraging text or send me some pictures of his garden. All of his gardens were so well cared for and super productive! He did such an awesome job with his watermelons, and is one of the few melon growers who didn't like growing grafted melons. He strongly believed the best way to advance melon genetics was to grow only melon seed from traditionally grown melons. I am shocked to hear of his passing as he had such great aspirations for this year's garden and we had also been in touch very recently. I know Hank was a Christian man with a strong faith, and I believe that he is in a better place now, even better than in his garden!

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Hank. I haven’t know Hank for very long but was getting to know him recently. His kindness and warmth was evident in every interaction. I can only imagine the profound impact that he had on those who knew him longer. Hanks memory will live on in the hearts of many, including mine.

I've read his diaries in past and have learned from him even though we've never interacted. I was stoked to see Hank throw his hat in this season to participate in the tomato contest as he had many, many years of knowledge to share. He seemed to be a amazing person.... very open, eager and willing to share his vast experiences with those around him. RIP Hank.

Hank was a good dude. I'm going to miss seeing him at the scales. When he took the award, purse, and Record patch for his VA state record LG at the W&W last year the corners of his smile was touching his earlobes. Good fella indeed.

So sorry Sharon and family. We were lucky enough to join you both on a couple of cruises and the GPC convention in Vegas. Very much enjoyed the time we shared together, talking about our passion for woodworking, the love of family and gardening. May the love of god and family help you thru this difficult time. All our love, Joe and Sue

This is Hank's wife, Sharon. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful comments & memories of Hank. We are still a little numb and just taking it a day at a time. He loved this community so much & would be honored and humbled by the comments. He left us lots of plants in the ground that sadly we are clueless how to care for. Maybe something will survive, I hope it does. Best wishes for a great growing year!!
