Subject: Heating cables layout idea / suggestions

Hi, Yes another heating cable question here but hopefully a bit different. I am planning to have a bit of a decent crack at growing a decent size pumpkin this coming season, pb is only a mere 1071 pounds. I have seen two two types of heating cable layout. 1. where the cable is buried in a sort of a square pattern about say 8" deep and 2. The heating cable is buried in a circular pattern around 8" deep around the outside of the plant
Looking for some advice on what people found worked best or is it really a 50/50 on which way you go here. The circular pattern definitely looks the easier, but the two will of course give different heating patterns from each other.
Looking forward to hearing anyone advice on this

As long as you get it evenly spaced, I don't think the pattern really matters.

Vineman posted an interesting idea for spacing the cable using a section of fencing, making it easier to retrieve the cable for re-use. I thought this was a most excellent idea.
