I have major stem issues on the Paton and I really don’t know what to do.. should I cut off my Paton and let it sit in its pumpkin house till the festival in 12 days. With fans still on stem? Or should I pick it and take it up to the shed ? Or should I keep it going and persist with the fans and sulphur powder and hope it will dry out a little till then?? It’s very humid and wet here at the moment and it’s not helping the situation. Any answers would be very much appreciated.
Thank you so much!
Lilli

If you could throw a picture or 3 into your diary with several angles perhaps, not required but for anyone to not see the problem is the first concern. Even I won't comment, and that is rare, lol---Meanwhile, don't cut anything - what is 'the shed'?
That sounds scary, lol---
No matter what, Good Luck. eric g

Lilli can you get agricultural-grade hydrogen peroxide where you are? That would help dry out and slow down the rot in the stem.

Is the agricultural grade the same as food grade?

Thank you all for your helpful comments and thanks for the good luck Eric I’m sure going to need it. And a scary shed is pretty much the same as a scary barn I’d say.. haha
I’ll definitely get some hydrogen peroxide and give it a try thanks so much KC.
Thanks again and happy new year everyone :)

All great info and I'm sure Steve Geddes has also emailed her. Steve has been the best at getting back to questions I have over the past 15 plus years.

He's the silent helper that I'm sure all who have asked questions knows about.:)

Sorry to get off topic but Geddes needed some praise because he's never going to praise himself.

Hope the stem split works out with the good advice above.
