How do Canadian growers send their seeds to the US? I've been hassled while crossing the border with seeds. Also, have heard horror stories about seeds not arriving or envelopes arriving empty with seeds removed.

Dave it used to be easy. A pyto certificate and away you go. last year I did everything I was supposed to do including a Pyto certificate for Don Crews and every single seed was confiscated and destroyed. the problem isn't with the laws the problem is how certain agents think the law reads. I just went to the terminator in Oregon, and like when you went to Cali. I had a pumpkin with seeds in it, and not a question, but one seed in my pocket and I am breaking the law. your best senerio is send individual bubbles with a couple seeds. try and stay away from the declaration or as
Pap wallace would say Organic guitar picks

I talked with a border guard yesterday and he told me to get a phyto certificate. Pretty stupid...eh? When we crossed the border with 2 pumpkins to go to California, they didn't even ask where we were going !!! OK guitar picks it is.

I send them to the USA during the Christmas postal rush of parcels and packages and don’t bother putting a customs declaration and have never had an issue with package not arriving.

Unless something has changed very recently regular mail does not go through scanning machine, only mail that does not qualify as regular. If I were going to send, I would try a thin bubble within a "flat" envelope with proper postage for a flat.
NSB has a good point.

Canada is pretty tuff eh?

I like your idea Glenn, hit um when there are so busy they just slide through! Hopefully not getting smashed going through the rollers.

America is letting thousands of illegals through the border each day and they won't let us send seeds..... This country has so many things backwards.

You have one heck of a seed Dave. good luck my friend.

Nah Chris kind of the opposite, we don’t have restrictions yet on seed importation into Canada, nice for us but had to share seeds to other countries that have tougher import restrictions.

Yeah, pretty goofy I can zoom across the border unimpeded with a massive pumpkin full of seeds in the back of my truck, but I better not have any prepackaged dried seeds in the vehicle at the same time, makes no sense.

Good to know Glenn. There's this grower up there I might want to ask for seeds from. He started growing well after us ( after seeing your text last night with the sign next to the christmas tree ) way after us! lol

Good to know and thanks.

The seeds are being received by the clubs and growers !
The bags of seeds were taken to a Federal Agricultural Inspection Agency (FAIA). They inspected the seeds and gave me a "Phyto" certificate....13$. I took the seeds and Phyto certificate to the US border and let me through without a hassle. The seeds were placed in envelopes and taken to a USPS office to get proper postage. Service was excellent. California got their seeds in 4 days.
