How do you measure growth results from fertilizer? If I apply a foliar or a drench, do I see my weight gains in 48
hrs using Essential or Masterblend 4-18-38? Sometimes I feel I don't know which fertilizer worked best.

You gotta have consistent weather, consistent watering, and precise measuring (the exact growth at exactly the same time of day)... I usually notice results pretty quick, just 12- 24 hrs may be enough. For measuring pumpkins this means taping a poly line so that it measures in the same spot every day, and crimping that line each day to show the exact amount it grew. Its that, or grow it on a scale.

The formula for getting the weight in lbs from the circumference in inches is .001517 x circ^2.61374. You have to subtract the previous day's estimate from the new measurement to get the daily gain. Its sounds like a lot of work! But really it can all be done in 5 min. or so.

Or, measuring the vine growth would literally be a bit more straightforward...

...a bit more straight forward - ahh, LK is so funny, lol;
For additional backwoods (backward(s)) fun with measuring for fun-only, stick a bamboo stake in the ground in order for it to be about an inch from the edge of the fruit or AT the tip of the vine in question, being SURE to move it outward more once it almost reaches said stick at the side of the fruit. The worst case is that there'd be a mark on the fruit butt I've never noticed one, even if the stake was bent pretty well. I should be pruning and burying vines and getting that accomplished, THEN, at beachball size, begin with the tape measure, OTT method. In most cases, I've always considered most fruits to be at 10 times the day # from about 30 days onward---eg
