For those of you who have experience, and found success in the 150 square foot contest, what have you learned (specifically to growing a small plant) that has translated into what you do with all of your plants?

This is my first year doing the 150 sf contest so I'm interested in the responses to your post. So far the only thing I've learned is that weeds grow just as easily in 150 sf as they do in 1,000 sf. :) Eager to read what's said here.

Ive learned that a plant can look perfectly healthy and lush, yet still be lacking the nutrients it needs to fully push the pumpkin... I'm looking for any & all signs of deficiencies all the time now.
