Roseville CA

Hello, Jonah and I are having a little contest to see who will grow the largest Pumpkin, as we are both new growers and around the same age, 13/14. We will both be posting photos of the plants throughout the season. So, make sure you choose your team to have a chance to win some seeds! (Make sure to choose by the 14th to LOCK your spot. The people who choose the winner will get some seeds from the pumpkins grown by me and Jonah, and some goodies though a random draw of the winners.

Why you should Choose Sankalp:
Has grown a 585 Pound pumpkin before
Large patch and early start
Has good genetics in his patch

Why you should choose Jonah:
Jonah will reply to answer this.

1. I am growing better seeds
2. I have less space that I need to be taking care of
3. I ALSO have good genetics in my patch!
those are the only reasons I really have lol

You're both dumb, but Sankalp is less dumb, and I'm confident he can get a fruit to a weigh off. I'm not sure how many more days Jonah's plants will survive. Last I checked he had them under a flashlight. Meanwhile Sankalp's plants look half decent. No comparison

My bet is that the two get more of 1000 pounds, very easy! Cheer up, guys! To the winner of the two, I will send some seeds for next year. :)) The ones you want :)

Not fair. Rookie vs. seasoned veteran.Jonah find a mentor in your area to show you the ropes.

Yeah Sankalp its really underhanded to beat up on this poor rookie grower! Pick on someone your own size!

I'll go with SanKalp because he doesn't have to deal with Squash Vine Borers in California.

Status update: Jonah broke a root on his plant? Idk how he keeps doing this, but I have a fiduciary responsibility to report it

At your age I grew an 80 lb kin at your age and thought it was a good achievement. I believe you can both beat my effort when I was your age... maybe you can beat me now as well :)

Sorry Jonah, my money is on Sankalp, I watch his videos and I think he’s gonna do well this year.

Literally, there should be money on this, paid weekly and used for either of the patches at hand. Here's your 'Pumpkin Tax' dollars at work. Jonah, no need to answer if you don't want to but when could you, without even thinking about transplanting into a larger container, which is a step involving a pre-outdoors transplant shock, put any of your plants into the ground for real? I need to do the exact same thing, but I have thrown down 2 cover crops (1-year-old bagged wheat and/or Dutch White Clover) and neither is sprouting even with 6 days of rain off and on. As soon as a plant says 'I'm gonna grow THIS way', it is time...

Again, I need to do as I say---I project May 10th-on for myself, after I kill any pending weeds and then rinse the areas the next day---eric g

I mean, if you really want a certain team to win :) lol. Also, I know I have stopped uploading on my channel, but if enough wanted to see it, me and Jonah could do weekly updates on my channel, and I can send them in the message boards for y’all to see.

Sankalp, that’s a great idea, I can’t speak for everyone, but I watch every pumpkin video/ channel out there. I’m thinking pumpkins 24/7. So the more channels and videos out there the better in my mind!

Sankalp - Better curb your brother from sitting on your pumpkin every year but I hope the same reporter does her reporting of your fruit every year - That'd be OK with me!
Yeah, updates would be interesting, ferr sherr! Later---eg

I am going to go with Jonah, because he had a seedling under a flashlight. I know when I checked my flashlight, I could get 1345 uMols at 18 inches with a footprint sufficient for seedlings. Jonah trying it when there was not a better alternative shows the attitude to overcome the difficulties. We all know, it is a long growing season and there will be plenty of difficulties. I wish both growers the best, I like to see young growers have success.

Just because Jonah is growing in the south and I'm from the south I assume he's fairly intelligent. I say that because people born in the south, or that have had the good sense to move there are inherently more intelligent than people that come from or live in Ca. :) I don't know either of these youngsters but the fact that they're growing Giant Pumpkins at all doesn't speak well of their IQ's.

I'll vote my heart and go with Chapel Hill Jonah from the south.

Much success to both of you! Sankalp may have an advantage with his prior pumpkin growing experience.

I like the YouTube videos, I would enjoy watching your pumpkins grow this year.

Good luck to you both!

"how devastating to my ego... lol"
That's the last IIIIIIIII've heard from Jonah R;
I do hope he's all right; maybe he's like me and is keeping minor successes to himself, to one day 'ride out of that sunset, on your...color TV screen'...his team is growing, so that's a good sign! Well, time to choose a plant to put out there. I already know what the next three are...the following four are Mega-Kins to be!
