Everyone that was expecting seeds from the 2537 Crews in the United States, I have bad news. Eddy packaged all the seeds from Don (plus a few more) in a package with a phyto certificate and mailed them to me. Unfortunately once they hit customs in Los Angeles it was another story. They actually cleared customs and then for some unknown reason were put back through customs again. Unfortunately on the second attempt they had removed the phyto certificate! So I received the box of bubbles from Eddy, however the US customs apparently destroyed all the seeds!!! Don has been made aware of the situation, however he basically has no more seeds to send out. We are very sorry as we know a lot of you had plans for planting these seeds this year.

That is very sad and most unfortunate, especially with a Phyto! That's a tough one to swallow.

Thanks for posting Jim. It’s frustrating but at least everyone in the USA can sleep well tonight knowing that the customs dept saved them from killer seeds from Canada. Heck of a world we live in. I was threatened with prison by Canadian customs for an attempt at importing a bottle of miticide that actually has Canadian approval. People can walk in to Canada at an illegal crossing and get put up in a Hotel at government expense. No threatening of prison for them.

Bummer! It would have been fun to see what Don's 2537 beauty would have produced in top growers patches this year.

Somewhat puzzled why the package went through Los Angeles Customs? And not a port of entry in the Northwest? Here in the East usually a border state with Canada and not down south such as Miami.

The package went from Calgary to Vancouver Then from Vancouver to LA. Not sure why as most of the time it would have gone directly to Portland. Then cleared customs a day later. The package sat for almost a week then back to customs. Can’t even get a response from anyone as to why this happened. But it sure sucks.

Thanks for the update Eddy, hope you hear something back soon as to the reason? It wouldn't hurt so bad if they simply returned the seed! Danny

Man that sucks. I hope that some of the Canadian growers were able to get the 2537 seed, since theres did not need to go through Customs

Sorry to hear, but this seems to happen with a lot of fragile mail or luggage from other countries. I had airport customs do the same. I had 2 fishing poles removed from a large plastic case, somehow break them in 2 spots each, and then repack them without notification of the breaks. I picked the case up at bagging, and there were pieces rattling around. I was reimbursed by the airline after a blame game, but I am sure it was the border guys who did it.

Lots of horror stories can be told regarding border/custom officials. Been through it many times and with many countries sending seeds. Unfortunately it became so painful and not worth the hassle, expense, etc. for small orders going to some countries. Just yesterday had a call from Japan for seeds and had to decline. We use to send many seeds to Japan. And most recently sent an order to a location in New York state. We sent the order on January 25, finally arrived to customer on March 3! At least it arrived after going through 7 USPS Distribution Centers in New York, New Jersey and Ohio! Oh the joys!
