Oidhche Shamnha Shona, Scots Gaelic for "Happy Hallowe'en". Literally translated it means "Happy Samhainn Night". Hallowe'en, or Samhainn (pronounced SAV-en in Scotland), is a Celtic holiday that celebrates the return of the dead to the living world. It is said that on this night the veils between the worlds of humans and spirits is lifted.
It is a night to honor ancestors and some families set an extra place or two at the table in case a visiting ancestor should wish to join the family for celebration.
Unfortunately the "e" broke off while I was moving it from one location to another and it never made it to Hallowe'en evening. Sigh, all that work :)
