Alan has found that the Woodchucks that were causing damage to his pumpkins earlier this year are afraid to cross these bamboo sticks. So now that he doesn't need so many for vine training, they can now serve as "Critter Sticks". If the Woodchucks decide they still need to bite pumpkins, they are free to attack the shock absorbers instead.
