I have found that seeds that are as in the subject line are no more likely to not sprout as ones that DO float and/or do NOT exhibit an unpleasant odor as in from a pumpkin that has sat out too long or has begun to rot otherwise. I had both scenarios this year and no seeds did not sprout that were in either category. This is not to be a guideline, but in fact, side by side, a sinker or stinker sprouted FASTER than its floating, non-stinkin' counterpart - perhaps an evolutionary mechanism to 'grow fast or die'. Point - within reason, lol, seeds are good to grow, Sinky or Stinky and I DID keep the stinkers separate from the others - I will grow them MYself and the rest are for sale or trade, for the obvious reason. This is my finding about this. eg
