Silicone caulk...I recommend lexel...that's not a good spot for a split ...how far in does it go?...we've had a pin hole in the blossom that went all the way in...still able to show for Halloween..

Not sure how deep it is you can almost watch the crack grow. I covered it with masking tape in hopes of keeping the cooties out. Hadn't planned on taking it to a competition but would like to see it live on and maybe even grow some more.

Anyone ever try fix-a-flat? Jokingly serious. Expands and seals. Take a zip tie and insert, resistance tells you how deep

It may be too late to prevent internal fungus and what-not, but I did use black Flex-Seal spray last year and it was a hoot, although it did rot from the inside and yet, as the blossom end split got bigger, I just added more FS by default. It is VERY volatile in its needing to be in a well-ventilated area, butt it did what I wanted and it was left-over, anyway. Especially if the crack-'n'-split is deemed to be non-lethal, certainly endeavor to seal it with SOMEthing, (someday, we'll know something that can be removed for a competition!, albeit EXHibition-only, probably) as it'd be great to keep it going and see what can be accomplished. Good luck! eric g
