Yes it will get a pukey yellow. Any unpruned vine tips will get a weird tightly stacked pattern and stop growing. The pumpkin will abort about the time you see the yellow leaves running down some vines. Some of the leaves will get a bronzing color.

If the fruit stops growing and aborts then you will know for sure if you have YVD. Yes YVd usually attacks in sections. I am going to be positive for you and say that you have herbicide poisoning or some sort of weird micronutrient excess/deficiency. If you look at the leaf directly to the left of the metal stake and then count two leaves up. there is a leaf with a weird cupping and a slight discoloration of the leaf margin(edge) That leaf is what is giving me hope that this isn't YVD. Fingers crossed for you luke. You will just have to wait this one out. It will tell you what it is eventually. Have you applied any micronutrient blends? Have you applied any herbicide near the plant? A bad spray tip can often send spray in an unwanted direction.

I dont know of any nutrient mishaps that would cause that... maybe if soil was saturated for long enough to go sour/anaerobic. Is there an at home test for yvd?

Luke, are you seeing any squash bugs?
Look under boards, they like to hide. If you have not seen any, it may not be yvd.

Thanks guys. I really only see Vine Borers and Cuc Beetles, but we do get some Squash Bugs.

Does YVD stay in the soil... or is there anything wrong with riding it out and seeing if it is herb drift damage? I don't think nutrients since it is only one section of plant.
