It would nice if the weighoffs would give more incentive to grow field pumpkins. It is a pumpkin weighoff right? There isn't much prize money. I think if more growers would put some effort into field pumpkins we could see weights into the 300+ range in 5 years. It seemed like I had more people loving my 180 lb field at the weigh off than my 1872 AG. At another weighoff I brought 4 fields over 100 lbs each including one at 123 lbs. Sold every one of them. So many folks were taking pictures of them.

That is true it would be nice. I grew my first field pumpkin this year to 88lbs and will be growing again this year. Alan would you be able to email me justinjp0127@gmail.com

Always good to bring it out for discussion and future. Many growers and backyard gardeners do not have the room for AGs of course. Also the time, expense, etc. growing AGs. I have no idea what other weigh offs give for prize money? However a 300 pound plus field pumpkin would be a sight to see and achievement!
