I'm curious about the level of powdery mildew resistance that people see in the large field pumpkin genetics. There are some F1 varieties out there that reliably produce 1-2 40-60 pound pumpkins per plant that also have good powdery mildew resistance. I've grown regular field pumpkins before but the only giants I've tried have been AG. Thinking about trying a couple large field pumpkins next year, but I'm curious about the value of some of these large F1 varieties in crosses to introgress stronger powdery mildew resistance into the genetics.

The Prize Winner seeds we grew from Stokes Seeds gave us big pumpkins at 150 lbs to 395 lbs and were the most powdery mildew resistant plants I’ve ever grown.

I was very happy with applying Joel Holland's Mildew Cure to my AGs in 2020, and if you Search Window it you may find another post about it where another grower recommends what to do for smaller quantities than that 2.5-gallon size.
It is an all-natural product based upon and smelling like garlic, which makes me think of pizza, which makes me happy, so...
The REASON I bring this up is so that if nothing else, you can treat it nicely, even before it appears.
I used overhead sprinklers AND a hose-end nozzle-trigger sprayer.

Now, I have seen VERY little PM on my AGs this year (So, NO treatments needed anyway) and also NO PM on my '37' FPs, of which I grew 6 and have now 3 fruits on. Nothing BIG, (grocery store-sized from late planting out and no vine-burying) but incredibly vigorous and very productive near the end of September.
They are 116 Grunert X Sib, which in total is
37 Gerry '14 (116 Grunert (81 Wolf X Self) X Sib);
I have one fruit that is 37 X Sib or Self, I forget, lol and I'll have hopefully some seeds from that one as well in a week or two.
If I JUST would devote the time to one or two plants in particular, AG OR FP, I'd have some real monsters, I am sure!

PS---funny that I still have Prizewinner (PW) seeds from 'Packed for 2002' and also
two crosses from them over the years that always produce medium-sized, super-orange fruits;

Try growing some of each side by side. I grew a 130 Treece and had no powdery mildew. So maybe the genetics were good.
