            | Smallmouth | Upa Creek, MO | I forget how green field pumpkins are at first. I simply collected a seed from a big field pumpkin bought from our farmers market last year to grow this. Anyone ever seen them like this or do I have a mix? I am happy it is growing and just curious to see how it turns out. Thanks

            | big moon | Bethlehem CT | Luke I am thinking it will darken up as it gets bigger. I love the nice fat stem and shape of it. Looks like a good one. | 8/19/2012 8:26:05 PM |

            | JDFan | El Paso TX. | Really nice stem on that thing -- color looks fine to me - should be able to get plenty of nutrients into the pumpkin with that highway going in. | 8/19/2012 11:07:14 PM |

            | Smallmouth | Upa Creek, MO | Thanks guys, I really don't have much experience growing them, but that stem is a monster. I have another set and it is the same (stem actually wider than fruit now). Below is what I got last time I grew field pumpkins in 2010... kind of a funny pic.

            | JDFan | El Paso TX. | When you said light green I thought you meant more like this one on my Lumina plant - ( http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc189/JDFanning_bucket/lumina.jpg ) | 8/20/2012 11:43:26 AM |

            | cojoe | Colorado | Luke it will get a dark green just before the orange shows up. | 8/20/2012 12:54:34 PM |

            | Smallmouth | Upa Creek, MO | Pendog, I saw in your diary and looks identical. I googled Gold Rush Pumpkin and that's what the big one I bought from the market looked like.
JD, that looks like a mini AG, and thanks Joe.

            | JDFan | El Paso TX. | Luke -- Pretty much what it is (they are a member of Curcubita Maxima )- they are white pumpkins with a deep orange inside and only get to around 10 - 15 lbs or so - grew a plant last year but only got 1 pumpkin from it before the heat killed it so decided to try again this year and planted a bit later and it seems to be doing better but is just starting to set fruit so too early to know for sure ! | 8/20/2012 3:59:12 PM |
