I am growing some FP's strictly for fun. A few 20 pounders is okay with me. With this heat many of us have been getting (+105 multiple days in a row), do I need to do anything special like cover and put ice around the pumpkins like we do with AG's when developing. I know FP's are much hardier but my experience is limited especially in heat like this. Also, I water them about 1/10 of what I do the AG's and they seem fine. Is this okay?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Very similar problems with heat as the big guys, if they are stressed they will abort. The good news it takes only about 40 days for them to mature so you can get a crop or two off the plants. Last year the early one were ready end of August and I was able to take them to a local fair. The second group were ready end of September and were taken to the weighoffs.
