Corn suckers,Leave them on or take them off,? some say it make's no difference, but i am not sure. what is your opinion please.

This year I'm breaking them off. My thought is why should the plant waste resources growing that useless tissue. Kind of like pulling tendrils off AG vines. Just my opinion.
