So i am gonna be growing in containers this year due to the fact that i have had to move and will not have a garden ready anywhere near on time.
That said would a wide container be better or a deeper container. I am thinking like a trash can vs a wash tub.

Deeper with holes in bottom for drainage.

I do not know the answer..i have tried 55 gallon deep water hydro outside before though. It wasn't dialed in so the results were not stellar. Hope you post some pictures in your diary..we can learn something

Just use a grow bag, many have handles that make it easy for moving. My 7.62 was grown in a 20 gallon grow bag.

First attempt at growing these and some will be raised beds and some grow bags. They are reasonably priced and so far I'm loving grow bags. Easy to move, doesn't disturb the roots and damn near impossible to over water or bake in the sun. And I choose 20 gallon based on what Mr.Sutherland said above, and cost of filling them. A 11$ pack of 2 cubic foot compressed Pro Mix will fill a 20 gallon for frame of reference. You know the PH your starting with and can shoot from there.

Grow bags do dry out very fast,so keep a close eye on the moisture level.

You would want a shallow container, similar to the ground that everyone grows in. 30x30' and 8" deep. I mean I'm sure they would grow fine in a deep container, but then you have to worry about the moisture levels being inconsistent
