What deficiency would orange leaves be on some of the oldest leaves ? Having very real Ber problems, can’t grow a single tomato over golf ball size without developing blossom end rot ! Should be plenty of calcium in the soil , also drenched and Foilier fed cal mag several times over the last couple weeks to no eval . ph should should be in the range but ? Plants are pretty much really healthy ! What’s my problem he he , and thanks !

It seems to happen very rapidly on all new tomato’s ! Looks like they melt and then turn brown and black fast ! I don’t get it never seen anything like it . And for my Canadian heirloom business as usual , no problems which is why I don’t get it !

+1 on pics. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium Issues all start on older leaves.

I’d say that may be separate to ber (tho could be linked). Ber is complicated. Yes, it’s a lack of calcium. But that’s not limited to a lack of calcium in the soil, if water is irregular, calcium uptake is limited.

What’s the RH? Too sharp a deficit between transpiration and water uptake can also cause calcium issues.

A few pics be up soon ! They have been a little on the dry side lately , trying deferent watering methods ! Dry , wet , in between , no difference . This been going on for three weeks now , all maters set , but don’t make it . Have a nice 22 day old mater on the big wixom , a little over two lbs it also has a growing area of Ber on it .

Things I’ve tried-
Laid off pruning during fruit set.
Let a few extra small ones set.
Added calcium- (my soil has plenty now)
Stopped touching them
Kept blossoms dry
Lowered phosphorus after fruit set
Different music
Drive myself nuts...always on the first truss, sometimes on the second...
I came to the conclusion that Plant just isn’t ready that early for my conditions. Maybe for the plants condition also. Either way, it’s all part of the fun of trying to trick these things into growing one fruit....sometimes less is more with these domingos if the soil is alive. I got bad case of pumpkin fever setting in...I gotta go find my plants.

All true ! Tried most of what u said . How did u lower phosphorus ? Yea I prolly give them too much luv ! Plants are healthy maybe I’ll sit back and wait , ah the joys of growing .

I am not a giant tomato grower but I have plenty of tomato growing experience. Growing between 100-200 plants a year.
In the past I have had troubles with the first tomatoes of the season getting blossom end rot. As the season comes into swing things always do straighten out. Keep them healthy. Which it sounds like you are. PS I got a good chuckle out of "Oh no way 21 and above"

What's your fertilizing program and watering interval specifically? Ber will usually happen with 1) cooler temps 2) uneven watering. Reasons 3-20 are much less common, including calcium. Another high probability is an imbalance of nutrients. Ex: too much N can inhibit calcium uptake. Foliar spraying several times over a couple of weeks is way too much. If you have lower orange leaves I'll bet you have either a Mg or K issue as well. Salt buildup restricting uptake of nutrients maybe?

Fish and seaweed every other week , ( 4-3 4 ) seaweed 0 0 17 every other week , epsom salt every couple of weeks could use maybe a little more . That’s about it , the soil should have plenty of everything . I will say the nitrogen was very high earlier ! Probable uneven watering , there in containers so watering is tough ! Two feet off the white house and also 1.5 feet off the black top driveway maybe there just cooking . 9 hours of sun prolly stressed . maybe potassium vs calcium to much potassium ? My Canadian heirloom in the same mix with no problem ! I thought I had plenty of calcium in soil these giants grow so rapidly it can’t keep up .

I have seen the BER problem the worst in dry years. Has it been dry in RI? I would be surprised if it has. Been really wet here as of late.

I will do that more water ,less often 1.5 - 2 gallons maybe . Oh yea been dry over here been missed by storms often , but got hit yesterday with .65 inches . Two weeks before that got 2 inches in 30 minutes , that was a flush ! That’s it for the last two months ! Been looking forward for rain to wash Daconil off been on for weeks ! Thanks all , for your help .

Still early for us in the northeast...you can dial it in. No epsom if it doesn’t need it...steady steady...feed the soil...feed the plant if it needs it...the right one will take. (And in case there is confusion in the above post, big moon is also the reAL DeAL!..)

Yup feed the soil ! Due for Wow organic wonder tea , so my containers have all the same stuff as the pumpkin patches do , is there anything that tomato’s don’t like ! ( Domingo) Like azos I only put in 1/3 directions knowing my nitrogen was already on the high side . Yea wow big moon is the real deal , awesome grower ! Don’t know where u guys get your energy from ? I might skip over the cucumbers and go to tulips ! Lol

Just to clarify what I said above. Yes, it is a calcium issue, but moreso a movement of Ca issue. Your soil can have the bigliest amounts of calcium the world has ever seen but it isn't getting to the fruit. I believe it's more the hormones *gibberellins maybe*. This would explain the cooler weather occurrence. A few years ago I read alot of scientific papers about this and it's amazing how much is still a mystery. We've landed on the moon and split atoms but still dont fully understand some basic plant functions. Maybe you'll give us the answer greenbud!

Yea calcium uptake , do to not enough water and too much nitrogen ! I’m such a idiot ! I just drilled a half inch hole in the side bottom of containers and practically dust down there ! How embarrassing ! I assumed that as soon as I put water in it was gone it was making it to the bottom ( not ) wow so I prolly have salt build up also ! How much water should I put in to flush ? Just gave them 1.5 gallons now , water is at the bottom now ! I wrapped up paper towel nice and tight twisted into the 4 inch deep hole , to tell if the water made it down there !

The one nice thing about 5 gallons is if you lift the container very easily you know its dry. My girlfriend was doing the same thing she was watering... but only the surface. It wasnt the correct amount of water. I didnt drill a hole I just picked the bucket up and knew despite her watering it was still dry.

Water to perfect moisture, let dry...not dust dry..but def dry..repeat...during heavy fruit load less dry in between waterings but hopefully by then u can see all that water being taken up..is it evey two days?.. every 3?... every week?... everyday?...your conditions will determine that. That size container it would probably be every 3 days for my spot. Don’t overthink. Plants look great and it’s time to start setting in our area if u didn’t start too early.

Wow yea , that’s well said ! I will do . Unfortunately I’m probably 3.weeks ahead of most , due to the high nitrogen deafenitly over did it ! I started them may 2 . But then again that nitrogen in the soil is about to run out ? Yet every bloom I’ve had pollinated one would think if nitro was too high all them buds wouldn’t pollinate ? Anyway your 6.55s are about nipple high with more chances I would say , even out a side or something . Whatever I’m having a blast , growing is great helps keep the mind off of life’s worse problems ! Thanks again my friend .
