At that time he was still world record holder

Maybe the next new sweet spot for setting a mega...at the top of a 28 ft ladder. I found it interesting that Gordon set his plants out in Febuary. They could get very big. I have read that his WR 7.75 was set way out also. Maybe the southern growers should adopt some of Gordon's techniques. The best technique for the short season in the north, might not be the best technique in the south.
