How long will a long gourd grow before you really know it has really set?

You will know soon enough Iwan. Unfertilized gourds can grow up to eight inches or more, but they will be long and skinny and peter out. A sucessfully pollinated gourd will display a consistent steady growth noticible in length and girth.

With the weather we are having I am not sure it will be able to show any growth. cold and very wet that is.
