I have a ton of luffa gourd seed that I was test germinating. The younf luffa seedlings are very comparable in size to the watermelon seedlings. I am wondering if I may have to try a few as grafts. It may have superior compatibility over some other rootstocks we use. Has anyone tried it before? Or found any research on it?

Should be interesting experiment. Try a couple out and see what the long term compatibility is. It's still a different genus than watermelon just like the Lagenaria is but maybe it will work.

Jeremy is correct. Google grafting techniques and you will most assuredly find you tube videos on it. Arizona State (?) has an excellent video.
