I harvested the seeds from my 213, dried them for a week. I planted them Sunday and the soil temp is 90 degrees. So far nothing. Is there a good way of telling if they are viable? I read somewhere if they float they are not viable. If that is the case none of my seeds are viable because they all float

Home of happy lil plants

They will all float on melon and pumpkin seeds for that matter, otherwise I've never planted a viable seed...

Let dry for a few weeks and then try germing them like you would when planting them and go from there

I've got the dried ones in fridge at 36 degrees for now but I've read they don't need cold stratification

The soil temp is not 90 degrees at night if their outside. Need them in the incubator to get a good idea.

I dry for 3 weeks, tomake sure they are dry. When I go to use them I sand the sides. Place in soaking solution 3/4hrs. place in moist growing mix and place in oven with lite on. Ive had them sprout in the 3rd day. Make sure the seeds are good and dry. And the growing mix is just moist. Good luck. Jim

I dried them for a week, maybe they need a certain length of time they need to be dry, beats me.

Greg, let them dry for two to three weeks, give them an hour long soak before planting and try to germ them at 90 to 95 degrees, even at that it might take a week.

Went back to my old way of germinating seeds between moist paper towels on a heat pad. Two days later I've got roots.
