I have plenty of otts for different ages. But most of my melons have been long. This year I have some thicker melons, so I don't really know how to compare to previous years. Does anyone have side to sides on say 30 day old melons? Also for those growing thick melons. What is a good percentage of side to side out of the total OTT number.

My 296.5 was 40.5 side to side on day 30. The end to end on day 30 was 47.5. Difference: 7 inches.
On day 92 when i cut it the side to side was 55 and the end to end was 63. Difference: 8 inches

Thanks Susan and big melons. One of mine is that fat but smaller at day 30. The other one is not that fat but more than I'm use to.

i like the fat ones, but i still want something that is growing good. So if its just slightly smaller then your ok.

Jake i think the 250 pacer is very accurate. The 296.5 stayed very close to the pacer the entire season.

Hot send too soon. As the season progressed, i was at the top end of the pacer rather than the low end. Hope this makes sense

Makes perfect sense Susan thanks. I found if things go right the melons I had in the 120-124 lb range at day 30 put me measuring 230-250 when they stop. One problem I've had is long melons are usually 10-20 pounds light. The other is I've never had a melon go 90 days. Something always seems to happen.

I noticed that your ss/ee ratio changed very little. I wish I had kept up with it but it always seems like my gap widens more by the end of the year.
