For anyone interested, after a year away, the Allardt Great Pumpkin Festival and Weigh-Off returns as a GPC event in 2014.Here is the link to their website:

Total melon prize money is $1250.00 with $600.00 for first place.

219 pounds won the Allardt watermelon contest last year. Third place pays $300 and 131 pounds won that position last year.

Not a very long trip from where I'm located in northeast Alabama. Glad to here of another fairly local event. Cullman is the only event close to where I live. Good to here!!!!

Hey Chris! I think the location was entered wrong for this event. When I went to the event site it shows that it is actually in Georgia, about 50 miles east of Chattanooga. I think it is pretty close to you.

On the Union County Farmers Market website I found this link:

When I opened the link I found this -

"Sorry, that event does not exist!"

So maybe they were unable to get the event off the ground. I hope someone is able to figure this out.
