I know its late in the season but if you don't ask you won't know. I haven't been able to find any info on vine terminating and burying. Am I suppose to be burying the ends of the vines when I terminate them? If so are you all waiting a day or 2 after cutting to try and prevent disease? Will it really matter this late with approx 35 days of growing left until weigh off. The 260 Clementz, 297 & 291 Kents are growing well and I am trying anything to help boost the #'s and or simply trying to grow the correct way. Thanks All!!

Unlike pumpkins, covering completely or burying melon vines will often result in the vines rotting.I just push a little dirt up against the sides of vines I want to root. You will find it much more difficult to root melon vines as opposed to pumpkins. But lots of roots help to make fat fruit I think.

Yes I do know covering the complete vine would rot them but was just wondering about the terminated ends only or just leave them as they are...lose. Sorry that I didn't make that clear previously. Thanks TD

OK, I have never buried a vine end so I can't be very helpful to you on this one. I don't think it could hurt anything though since you are talking about the end of the vines and so you would lose very little if any rotting did occur. That is something I want to consider doing if it heps grow more roots.

Yes I think terminating most vines at this point is smart.Anything you can do to stimulate plant like Ancient Earth or Sensizym. But leave some vines growing for a couple more weeks.

Joseph I don't think I would bury the tips after dead heading.

I've left the vines unburied for fear of disease and yes I am leaving some shoot out vines growing for plant stimulation and or vigar. Thanks all. At least at this point I've shatter my PB on W-melons,lol.
