This is my first year with melons. Im aware that melons dont like the cooler temperatures, leading me to think that they are started at a different time than pumpkins? Also, does anyone use mini greenhouses on their melons like with pumpkins early on? Thanks!

I start mine anywhere between the Middle of March to the Middle of April. They start off a lot slower than the pumpkins and can be kept in a two gallon pot for a couple of months if you have too. I use a cold-frame on mine early in the year. They will just sit there if they don't have any heat. Anything you can do to help warm things up is beneficial.

April 10 th thru April 20th I start I figured out the Michigan Melon Masters trick. You have to get them in the ground early with soil cables etc, Same with the Kins get the plant as big as possible by mid June.soil warming is a good start. I'll Be Back!! Lol ;)

Also, grafted melon plants grow much better in cold weather since they have squash roots.
