There are internet sites that facilitate the streaming of live video. I think that it would be a new way for grower groups to raise money. Some of these sites will do it for "free" but then bombard you with adds while others require a small fee per view but then it is a clean and entertaining experience. In return the grower groups would be able to charge a fee (paid with PayPal) to view either the live stream or watch the event after the fact. The platform that I like the most is Dacast. They will charge less than a dollar to stream the video to each user. The stream is add free and allows the viewers to interact with with each other via a message board. It has never been easier to film something like this. Most laptop computers could pull it off or a simple web cam. You will need a hard wired DSL or better internet service. The growers group then would own the video and would gain royalties for perpetuity.

I would like to attend all of the good spring meetings but it is just not possible. I would most definitely pay to see them. With the experience gained with this initial broadcast you would be able to really put on a good show for the weigh in, maybe throw in some interviews. Could you imagine seeing the Half Moon Bay show live, or maybe a good New England show, or anywhere else for that matter. There is money to be made...
