Thanks to brotherdave got some watermelons im gona try this year.i see sand is good &covering for weed barrier&warmth.so what about roots at nodes.does a hole need to be cut on everyone.or do the even root much there.

The sand will help the melon plants to root right through the fabric with no further help.

depends which fabric you use,the heavy grey commercial that I used has to be cut.

I think secondary rooting is critical to growing a really fat melon. I grew my 207 on black plastic though. but then it was a really long melon, measuring 39.5".

Good deal.i geuss i could cut the plastic.wonder if the bigun chris grew is the plant that was growing on top his hoop house &everywere else.

yes that one was covering the hoop too. Got to watch for culls up there, they collapse the hoops with the weight ! LOL
