Dave all grafts were heavy to the chart, and very solid, or only a very smalll void, this however was a traditioanl, and the sad part is, I only have two plants left and there both traditionals.

Chris, melon taped out at 150 lbs, and weighed it in the garden on bathroom scales, didnt feel like loading it, and it weighed a whopping 108lbs! ................42lbs light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use to grow them like that a few years ago....but I can't seem to get that much air in them any more. Your going to have to tell me your secrets for doing that as i'm falling behind !

Ole Smokey, you just keep growing those fat, 300lb melons, and at least let me keep the giant air bubbles to myself, it's all I have left. LOL

Todd you have had a wet year too. Is that right? I am not so sure the hollow comes from water issues. I have had some look like that too. It doesn't seem to matter how wet or dry the patch is. I would like to hear other's ideas on what causes it.

John, i'm not sure, but after seeing the shape, (flat top, and bulging sides) I thought it was hollow, just not that hollow. They have had a massive amount of rain, so I really dont think it's water.

The lack of sun is the likely culprit. Seems like genetics, feeding, water all effect it to some degree but sun is a big factor.
