How can I find the giant watermelon records for the Tennessee Valley Fair? My daughter has about 70 in the field right now as a FFA project for school. She is going to enter one of these in the fair and I was wondering what the competition has been like for past years. She doesn't have a record, but would like to have at least a good showing.

I think Chris Kent has that record with a 236 pound melon he entered in 2010. But I am not totally positive.

A good showing is nice anytime but they pay only first place at the Tennessee Valley Fair. There is not so much as a ribbon for second place in the giant watermelon or pumpkin or squash growing contests there these days.

Not winning first place is OK. My daughter only wants to represent her school FFA chapter and show what a teenager can grow. She has won best of show several years in our county fair and want to increase the competition by moving on to a larger venue. Her largest melon ran 115 lbs using OTT measurements last week.
Thanks for the info.
