I waited since July 1 to cut open a 11 day old 255 Mitchell selfed, that I had culled. Yesterday being August 1st, I cut it open. As suspected when I cut it all I saw was immature seeds, but as I was picking up to put in compost pile I saw a dark spot. Went to digging, and found quite a few good looking seeds. Got around 200 that look viable. Time will tell. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=186074

It is kind of amazing how much quicker the seeds mature than the melon itself does.

If there is one thing we can learn from nature, is that it knows how to reproduce.
