After 25 years in the Army with 7 in the Infantry and 18 in Explosive Ordnance Disposal, I have some repairs that need to be made, before I retire in December. I am going to have the ball joint in my left foot replaced with a titanium implant on May the 7th, this will be the 6th surgery on my left leg.
It could not come at a worse time, I have the best seeds and the best spring weather to break my state record. I have some really great looking plants this year, today I just saw my first melon on the Kent 274, the 260 Clementz's is running like a scalded dog and the 282 Dawson is looking great.
Hopefully I am only laid up for two weeks but the Doc says a month.

I hate to hear that Cliff, but it is good you are getting yourself repaired. Perhaps friends and family will be able to help you through your convalescent period. I know you are a very determined person and will bounce back from this just fine. I think you will still be able to break your current state record. Good luck and thanks again for all your service to our great country.

Keep your head up Cliff, I know of many growers that have gone through major surgeries during the growing season and wound up growing their personal best that year. Last year a AG grower here in CT had hip surgery and still managed to kick butt at the weighoffs!
