Yesterday my children stumbled into a funny short clip of Mr. Bean growing a giant watermelon for competition! It’s on Netflix Instant Play if you want to watch it. It’s just 11 minutes and is called “Mr. Bean: The Animated Series: Season 1 Ep. 42- SuperMarrow”.
For most of you who won’t watch it here are some highlights: Mr. Bean sees an old man(Clutchhitter’s neighbor I think) haul a huge melon into a competition tent at the fair and win a silver cup. He decides to grow one himself. His neighbor is also growing one for the cup and tries to sabotage him with slugs and worms. Mr. Bean uses tons of grow lights, booby traps to catch the neighbor’s kid, digs a moat around his patch and fills it with water to keep the slugs out, and even makes a draw bridge with a “no slugs” sticker on it. To help with germination he uses the headlights from his car which he bounces off mirrors to the backyard. His melon grew larger than his neighbor’s, but his neighbor switched melons at the weigh-off only to lose to Mr. Bean when the worms come out while it’s on the scale. Fantastic! There’s your watermelon entertainment while things are slow and we’re waiting for spring.

I think you're right Mark, it's a zucchini! I was wondering why they called it a vegetable in the description. Actually I think they stuck a watermelon on a zucchini plant. either way it shouldn't have had 3 cotyledons when it came up:) Good thing cartoonists leave the growing to us.
