When do you think one of our growers will break 300 pounds ?

I know. It's not over yet. But it is getting close. I don't know who we haven't heard from yet that might have a new world record to be weighed. When is the last GPC weigh-off for this year ?I'm starting to look forward toward next growing season now.

OK TD Maybe nobody will break 300 this year but it has been very exciting,, And it was all in fun... Even i said the top 10 melons grown this year will be over 250 i'm pretty close and maybe 1 over 300 maybe we were wrong about that one but we were dang close!!!! this is what is all about the excitement of the chase !!!!! when that it is gone there is nothing..This has been 1 heck of a year for the melon melon growers!!! There is no misconception here Mark.I just never was on board for the whole "300 pounds is going to happen this year thing". It has been a very good year for many of us and an excellent year for a few growers such as yourself. And I am happy for you. I hope the 300 pound barrier falls next year and the more growers we get involved with the sport the better the chance it will happen soon.We just don't have a history of setting new weight records every year like you kin growers seem to do. I'm not likely to set any records Mark. I have no greenhouse, no automated watering system and no mister. Besides that I make rookie mistakes that are costly and I haven't learned to get my plants started in a timely manner. I am going to try really hard next year though. I do have a lot of determination and would be pleased as punch if I could grow a bigger melon than a heavy hitter like you next year. :-)

Mr. Dentist...Ouch...LOL it hurts to even type that!!! LOL You gotta remember that some of these massive fruits have not even been weighed yet, so there is some time left (seed drying, & procurring seeds from other growers). I can not quote you a definite date that the first seed auction occurs, but you have at least a couple weeks left to save up some money!!!! LOL Just stay tuned to this Incredible Site, and it will awl become clear...soonly!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...also remember, that lot's of incredible seeds (genetic crosses) will be offered up for the price of a SASBE on the seed exchange board!!
