Moss Hill Melon Man

Just curious to see who is going to Elkin this weekend ?

I am hoping my last good melon will still be growing a little at the time for the Elkin weigh off; although the vine and leaves are almost gone. The stem is still green and therefore I will wait a few more days to make that determination. I am hoping it will hold up until Allardt but there is little chance of it making the 200 pounds I was hoping for. Still it will be my best melon if it doesn't go bad. The fact that Elkin is a longer drive for me would probably just make you laugh after your melon was transported over 1000 miles. I suppose we will be seeing melons from Europe next. I hope no one ever gets the Japanese involved in growing Carolina Cross melons as they seem to become very proficient in what they do. lol

What I meant Chris, was European melons being flown over here by their growers, to compete in North American weigh offs.

Mark, it might be a good excuse to get to the US and then hide. It's called illegal immigration. lol

Mark, those are nice phat melons you posted pictures of in your growers diary. You've done a great job this year and I know you are proud. I think you'll take a high position in the top ten GWG's competition.
