It's natural for melon plant and fruit to get wet isn't it? I mean in nature rain falls everywhere.Whether from rain or from me, my melons get wet all the time. I also have no problem getting my stumps wet. I water them all the time (usually twice a day) and they are just fine.I know this isn't for everyone but seems to be no problem for me here in Knoxville. I had a few fingers and secondaries rot due to my ignorance but all my stumps are solid. Even the one with the bad break (211 Leonard) is fine.

I would be afraid of water but I see what your saying, we use shade table to keep the skin soft and pliable. Is there a moisturizer that wouldn't cause rot? Anti-Monkey Butt powder is handy when the temps get high. You can even use one of those old hand crank dusters LOL

Im think water is natural, there only wet after a rain,i wipe them off,& take hair dryer to bottom to blow any moisture from under melon.Only the best for my Girls!!LOL
