Need advice on these unexpectedly, over ambitious plants from turkey.Alright ,Here,s the issue. The two plants I have tried this year with seeds from their native turkey are driving me crazy. They have at least three times the vines and foliage as the cc,s do.One plant is already showing 30+ mains and secondaries approaching 25+ feet with no signs of slowing down.It seems that they do not like to show any females what so ever until about 18-20 feet out. Also every and I mean every main and secondary has shown a nice 2-3 cm across the middle measured(round)female.I have an idea that with the unusual (compared to cc,s)tremendous plant growth that this plant could support more than 2-3 melons. They were averaging 80-100 pounds in turkey with letting nature take its course. How many should I let them keep?I was maybe going to let one go two and the other do more? Thanks any help greatly needed.

I assume you are growing these to eat. If so let the melon decide how many to grow. It won't set more than it is able to grow.

Interested in seeing the final results. Any pics posted. They could be like Mt Hoosiers, they are often bigger at pollination than cc's. And you can grow several 80-100 pounders on a vine, but you cutem all off but one and still end up about the same. I'd treat them like a cc and see what their potential is.

I was going to try these out for size as I already have some moon and stars eating melons growing at a relatives house. The plant has (set) already 12 melons that are good size and very healthy.Iam being the (bad guy)in culling all but the best.I did manage to pollinate three females with my 255 mitchell. The other plant has been naturally open pollinated and set 12 all on its own(bees).I think I will keep two of the mitchell set on the one plant and try out 4 on the open as this plant has already covered an area approx 20x20 feet.My cc,s are doing very nice and all keepers but a few are decided.Best one already18 inches straight measure and 26 in girth..The turkey seeds are found on ebay and can get lots of 50 or 100 for under 10 dollars.Just type in (large watermelon seeds and you will see them listed with pic,s).The black seeds are smaller than cc,s and remind me of crimson sweet in size and shape.I guess in turkey it doesnt rain much as I might cut back in the water some as some leaves (older ones)got some yellowing and look pale.Hope not fungus but will spray just in case.

I would do at least 1 with only 1 or 2 on the plant. Prefer a sib or self if possible so we know what they can do & then have some good seeds. The cross with the 255 sounds great.
