They got me last night ,two of my good growing melons on a 267 edwards has a hole in it this morning. The Raccoons are on my hit list, in number one spot.

Me and coons don't get along ... They love pears i have 6 pear trees another few weeks they will start hitting them..they have ripped the screen on my porch to get to the dog food . broke water lines in the middle of the night .the made me so dam mad last year tearing things up i stayed up and waited on them i killed 14 out of one pear tree ..they were all in that tree at the same time...

Deer are usually our problem. Deer will most certainly eat watermelon plants, as my neighbor found out last year. I suspect I'll have to deal with deer this year.
Coons tend to prefer the corn around here, but my uncle has had coons sabotage his eatin' melons before.
We have these little dogs, part-terriers they are. The ringleader is the mother, she's about five years old. She does NOT like raccoons worth a little bit.
We've caught a few in the live trap over the years, to try and keep em out of the corn. The dog has alerted us to a coon in the trap by setting in on it.
You'd think she'd make a good huntin' dog, but she's never minded well enough.
