I have 3 plants that have developed main vines that appear to be two regular size mains growing completety attached to each other. They are huge i believe for the age(4weeks).They measure width wise across at almost an inch thick. The vines have now passed the two foot mark in length.Has anyone else seen this happen?

I had a double vine two years ago. I let it grow and it grew out of it after a few feet. This is not thought of as a good things and most growers cut them off where they are double I believe.

TB, are you able to post any photos? It might help some other growers to see what you are dealing with.

The doubledup area starts at the stump and has traveled the whole length so far, to the growing tip. That plant and the other two are about two to three feet long and growing now very fast. One plant displaying this is a 157 bright and I was hoping that this condition would be ok.

I have no idea if the use of kelp & it's growth hormones can cause double vines. I do know that they occur without growth hormones as the one I had 2 years ago happened without any.

It may be the gibberlic acid i used last summer that could have affected this years seeds. It was a similar product like megagrow. All I know is that I grew several 150 pounders with no where near the prep and knowledge that I have now. That knowledge was from this site and would like to thank all on this site very much.I feel I may have a good chance to improve my personal best this year with all the input I have read here...Thanks Again.

I have had them before. They ussually go out a few feet then split. Never set a fruit on one but didn't cause any harm.
